 7) Doldrums – a state of depression or stagnation 

 The mortgage market is in doldrum from last two year.

 8) Punitive – intended as punishment

 To make punitive measures against somebody.

 9) Ostracism – exclusion from group or society

 The family suffered social ostracism.

 10) Retribution – punishment for crime
