  1. India – Oman Trade Agreement

India has signed a trade pact with Oman that will allow duty-free exports of several Indian goods. In recent years, India has been actively signing MoUs and trade agreements with multiple countries to diversify its trade partnerships. This strategy reflects the lessons India learned from tariffs imposed by the United States.

Along with trade, India is also focusing on the mobility of workers. Similar arrangements have recently been explored with Russia, highlighting India’s broader economic diplomacy.

According to the Chief Justice of India (CJI), many retired judges are reluctant to serve as junior ad hoc judges. This has raised concerns regarding the effectiveness of ad hoc appointments to address the backlog of cases in courts.

The Supreme Court is considering a case related to passive euthanasia involving a 31-year-old patient. In India, active euthanasia remains illegal, whereas passive euthanasia is legally permitted under strict guidelines and court approval.


  1. Rising Diabetes Burden in India

India is facing a serious public health challenge due to diabetes. At present, around 500 million people in India are living with diabetes. Projections suggest that this number could rise to 900 million by 2050, unless strong preventive and policy measures are taken to slow the progression of the disease.


  1. Securities Market Code Bill, 2025

The Finance Minister has tabled the Securities Market Code Bill, 2025 in the Lok Sabha. One of the key provisions of the bill is the increase in the number of members in SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India), aimed at strengthening market regulation and governance.
